Hello,
I would like to thank you for your great effort which is helping many teachers.
From your resources I was interested in “Lesson 5 -Atomic structure.ppt”, I like it but I think there’s something wrong in it, shell 3 can allocate 18 electrons, and shell 4 can allocate 32 electrons, not like it is indicated in the slides.
Regards,
Francisco
You’re right of course and I’ve amended the copy on my site to show that I’m only referring to the first 20 elements. The resources are fully editable so anyone who has downloaded one already can make their own changes or downloaded an updated copy. Thanks for pointing this out (you are the first!)
Thanks for publishing these – I wonder if you could also put them in the old version of office – not everyone has the new “x” version installed so cannot download the documents!
If you have Office 2003 you can get a free compatibility pack that will let you load them in. Free office software like Open Office or Google Docs also supports docx format. I do often try and remember to use the older (now ancient) file formats but I’m afraid the easiest solution is to upgrade your obsolete Office software, it isn’t expensive!
I wonder if there is a problem with your site. I am trying to download the docx files and when clicked they ask me to download a zip file that contains just some xml files. the pdf and pptx download fine.
The files I would like to have a look at are lessons 15-19 and related resources.
Thanks for all of this in advnace – what I can see looks great.
The files in question load fine on my computer. Can you confirm which version of Office you are using. These are in Office 2007/2010 format and you will need software which can open this file format. If you are using Office 2003 then you need the Office Compatibility pack, if you are using an earlier version you will need to upgrade.
hi rob, i am having the same problem as hayden from the last post in opening the files. the pdf are fine but the others are not opening. I do have the latest version of the softwares.
I’m not sure what to suggest. They download fine on Google Chrome and Firefox, both on my work laptop (at work) and my home laptop (at home!). I could try uploading them in another format but I haven’t got time for a while – adding new files is quite time consuming.
hi rob, thanks for the suggestion of google chrome, fire fox.
the files open in both of the internet providers but not internet explorer.
much appreciated.
it is the docx files i am having problems with
